DIY candy Easter Basket Ideas Candy Easter baskets – what an amazing idea!!

We made these for our kids at our annual Easter egg hunt at church. The kids didn’t hunt with these baskets, but we filled them up with candy for them to take home. They really loved it and since we had much more children than anticipated, it helped with the amount of candy since they didn’t get a ton of eggs during the hunt.

This was not my idea, the preachers wife came up with this idea – but I thought it was too cute not to share!

This candy Easter basket is easy to make.

Materials Needed:

  • 4 boxes of candy
  • 1 candy handle (we used Nerds Rope)
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Cardboard (for the bottom)
  • Filling candy
  • Optional basket grass

First step is to find four candy’s to use & a Nerds Rope or something similar for the handle. My son chose the basket that had Reese’s but we made all different ones.

Next you’ll be assembling your candy Easter basket.

Cut a small piece of cardboard. Lay all your candy boxes to make a square on top of the cardboard then use a pen to draw your square to cut out. It can be a little big, but make sure it’s not too small or it will be difficult to get all of the candy boxes on the cardboard.

Next you’ll hot glue. Use a liberal amount of hot glue and glue the bottoms down. Once you finish gluing the bottoms of the boxes to the cardboard, you’ll want to glue the sides too. This gives just a bit more structure to the candy Easter baskets. Then you can glue the nerds rope to the baskets.

There were a couple of mine that I didn’t size out right – I had to take them apart and start over since they wouldn’t work.

We added Easter grass in the bottoms and  an assortment of candies for the kids.

They loved it and thought it was so awesome!!
