Homemade – DIY Father’s Day Gift sure to get Dad & Grandpa to smile big!
I am all about homemade gifts. I’d rather give a DIY gift than a store-bought gift any day. Especially for Father’s Day & Mother’s Day, so this DIY Father’s Day Gift idea was no unusual gift from us.
Last year I wanted to give all the grandparents something special. Something sentimental that would represent that year and my, then six year old.
So I decided to make them a hand painted sign for their shops/man caves. I made one for each of the men customized with their special names – Daddy, Grandpa, Paw-Paw, Papa Keith, & Poppy.
Materials
1 – piece of wood (any size you want)
Paint
Picture Hangers
& don’t forget the special little hands and feet that bring the special ingredient of LOVE!
That’s it!
This was such a simple & budget-friendly, but meaningful gift for the grandparents.
I painted the wood (that I actually got from a construction jobsite) with house paint. I used sample paint from Lowes, but you can also get sample paints here. I used house paint so I would get a nice, even coat on the wood. I used red, blue, and turquoise, a different color for each grandparent.
Next I began writing out the word LOVE. I skipped a space for the hands and the feet.
I painted my sons feet and hands with house paint (yes, I know, I know. But I did this outside) then pressed them on the wood nice and even.
The grandparents LOVED the signs. They still have them hanging in their shops/man cave! This is such a simple and inexpensive, but THOUGHTFUL gift.
