One of the things my grandmother is known for is her delicious sweets! She can whip up just about anything that tastes like it came straight from Heaven, but her sweets tops the cake. Her chocolate oatmeal cookies recipe is one that few can master because the cooking times and ingredients. When making this recipe, don’t add too much or too little of anything and keep the cookie times exact. It’s very easy to under cook or over cook the cookies.

Chocolate, Oatmeal, Cookies, Recipe, No Bake, Cocoa, Sugar,

Ingredients

  • 1 stick – butter
  • 2 cups – sugar
  • 1/2 cup – Whole Milk
  • 1/2 cup – Cocoa (I get the milk chocolate)
  • 1 tsp – Imitation Vanilla
  • 1/2 cup – Peanut Butter (I use the creamy)
  • 1/2 cup – 1 cup – Oatmeal. This is really preference. We like less oatmeal.
  • Parchment Paper

Directions

  1. Melt butter in boiler.
  2. Add sugar, milk, & cocoa
  3. Boil for 3 minutes. Do not under cook and do not over cook. Due to altitudes I’ve found this number may need to be tweaked some. You want to focus on your consistency. You’ll notice the mixture gets thick.
  4. Add 1 tsp of vanilla and mix.
  5. Add peanut butter and stir.
  6. Pour in your oatmeal and stir.
  7. Once the oatmeal is stirred, immediately scoop up cookies with spoonful’s onto parchment paper to set. The cookies should set in about 15 minutes or so.

These ingredients and directions are for one batch. My grandmother always doubles hers and adjusts her cooking time. Also, when it’s raining outside the cookies don’t seem to set as well. The first time I made these I didn’t let my pot heat up and the cookies were too runny and never set (which this is actually how I prefer them lol). The second time I made them I added a little too much peanut butter and they were good, but they were too done. Cooking these Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies is a skill and will probably need a few times making them to master it. Once you do they’re scrumptious!

This is the way I like to eat them:
